NAVIDAD NATURALMENTE Y DIY {XMAS NATURALLY AND DIY}

Aquí estamos una vez mas afortunadamente. Ya ha pasado otro año y tengo la impresión de que no pasan sino que vuelan. A mí me gustan mucho las Navidades, esto no es nuevo. La actividad lo confieso empieza cada vez antes. Estaba pensando que el árbol de este año es un árbol que hace mucho tenía ganas de poner, solo con bolas. Al final, me ha salido un árbol con las bolas de algunos de los árboles que he puesto durante muchos años. Un árbol con muchas historias.

Fortunately we are here again. One more year and I have the feeling that they years don´t go by but fly. I´m very fond of Christmas really, this is not news. I have to say that my activities start earlier each year. I was thinking my Christmas tree this year is one full of history, the history of many years we´ve spent together. I didn´t want any other ornament but bubbles, the bubbles I´ve been keeping for years and years.

Con alguna bola nueva para añadir al de este año.

I´ve bought some new bubbles for this year´s.

Empecé en Noviembre haciendo unos adornos para mi hermana. Unas estrellas de maizena, bicarbonato y agua que le encantaron.

I started in November, making some ornaments for my sister. I used cornstarch dough, made with corn flour, baking soda and water.

Utilicé 1/2 taza de maizena, 1 taza de bicarbonato y 3/4 taza de agua. Se ponen los ingredientes secos en una cazuela, se añade el agua y se remueve bien, se enciende el fuego y empieza a formarse como una bechamel y sigues hasta que se despega todo de la cazuela. Lo dejas reposar en un bol tapado hasta que se enfría, le pasas el rodillo, cortas con las formas que quieras...yo usé un corta pastas de forma de estrella y me salieron 20 estrellitas. Usé unas pajitas para hacer los agujeros y así se pueden poner unos lazos. Se precalienta el horno a 170 grados y se hornean aproximadamente una hora, pero a la media hora se les da la vuelta. Muy fácil y el resultado es bonito. Luego, una amiga vió las fotos, le encantaron y me pidió que le hiciera servilleteros, así que en una semana volví a la carga.

I used 1/2 cup of cornstarch, 1 cup of baking soda and 3/4 cup of water. In a pan, without heat add the three ingredients. Turn the cook on and start stirring. Continue removing the mix constantly. It will start to bubble slightly and it begin tu turn solid and separate. Once a ball starts to form, take your pan off the heat. Leave the ball in a bowl and cover it until it has cooled down. When done, knead it on a smooth surface until smooth and silky. Preheat the oven to 170ºC while you cut the dough. I´ve used stars shape cookie cutter, but you can use whatever you prefer. I used a straw to make the holes, so you can add a ribbon. Place them in the oven for about an hour, turning them over halfway through cooking. And when my friend Ana saw them, she wanted me to make her napkin rings, so I was working on the dough again.

Esta vez utilicé los rollos de cartón del papel higiénico, los pinté con spray dorado y los partí por la mitad. Los adorné con un washi tape dorado y puse un lazo alrededor.

This time I used the toilet paper rolls. I sprayed them with golden spray and cut them half. I sticked a gold washi tape and used some ribbon to decorate it more.

Y muchas estrellas otra vez.

And many stars again.

Y metí un lazo en los agujeros también esta vez. En estos puse un poco de cola blanca y añadí un poco de purpurina.

And I added a ribbon this time too. On these, I put some drops of white glue and spread some glitter on it.

El resultado muy personal.

Decoraré mi mesa navideña con estas casitas vintage que le he cogido a mi madre. La verdad es que me las ha regalado.

I´ll decorate my Christmas table with this vintage houses for candles that I´ve borrowed from my mom. Well the truth is that she gave them to me.

Y pasaremos unos días todos juntos que es lo que realmente importa. Así que hasta después de las vacaciones voy a atender a mi familia, es lo que ahora me apetece hacer.

And we´ll spend some days together, and this is the most important thing to do now. So I´ll be out until next term. I´m going to take care of my family, now it´s what it really matters and what I really feel like.
