Estamos en la tierra del aceite por excelencia. Olivos por todas partes, hacen no solo un paisaje peculiar sino que ya en el aire se huele el aroma de aceite.
Aunque se sabe que estaba habitada desde la Edad de Bronce, Úbeda es, sobre todo un referente de arquitectura renacentista en España. Esta ciudad también es patrimonio de la humanidad y madre mía todo lo que tiene para ver. Lo mejor, coger un guía para pasear por la ciudad y ver esos edificios tan maravillosos como los ubicados en la plaza Vázquez de Molina. El primero que visitamos fue la Basílica de Santa María de los Reales Alcázares.
- We are in a quintessential land of olive oil. Olive trees all over, not only bring us an exceptional landscape but a gorgeous olive oil aroma in the air. Although it is known that it was inhabited since the Bronze Age, Úbeda is, above all, a reference of Renaissance architecture in Spain. This city is also a world heritage site and oh my, you have no idea everything this place offers you to visit. The best thing to do, it´s to take a guide and walk around the city and admire all those buildings like for example those located in the Plaza Vázquez de Molina. The first one to visit, The Basilica of Santa María de los Reales Alcázares.

Es este un lugar sagrado desde tiempos inmemorables. Edificada sobre restos de una Mezquita. En esta singular Iglesia, se ven clarísimos los diferentes estilos, como dijo el historiador Juan Pasquau, "inigualable democracia artística, donde todos los estilos pugnan por sobresalir y ninguno lo consigue en exclusiva". Lo mas interesante, sus fachadas, el bellísimo claustro y las capillas. La Iglesia fue dañada durante la Guerra Civil Española, algo que vemos en todas las guerras y como estamos viendo estos días en Ukrania. Su restauración empezó en 1983 y duró 28 años. El retablo mayor, una obra impresionante de Berruguete.

- This is a sacred place since long time ago. Built on the remains of a Mosque. In this unique Church, the different styles are very clear, as the historian Juan Pasquau said, "unparalleled artistic democracy, where all styles strive to stand out and none achieves it exclusively". The most interesting, its facades, the beautiful cloister and the chapels. The Church was damaged during the Spanish Civil War, something we see in all wars and as we are seeing these days in Ukraine. Its restoration began in 1983 and lasted 28 years. Main altarpiece, an awesome wooden piece made by Berruguete.

La Sagrada Capilla del Salvador, ubicada también en la misma plaza y creada originalmente como un panteón para Francisco de los Cobos. Se pueden apreciar las esculturas funerarias en las torres, hoy en día se llevan a cabo oficios religiosos.
- The Sacred Chapel of the Salvador, also located in the same square and originally created as a pantheon for Francisco de los Cobos. You can see the funerary sculptures in the towers, today different religious services are held.

Otra de las cosas que mejor se pueden hacer en Úbeda, además de hacer una cata de aceite y visitar los monumentos, museo y palacios es callejear. La ciudad es una mezcla de historia y cultura, te detiene el tiempo y te invita a tomar las cosas con calma. Yo no sabía que Joaquín Sabina es de esta ciudad, me enteré cuando vi la Calle Melancolía mientras paseábamos.
- Other things that can be done best in Úbeda, besides an oil tasting and visiting the monuments, museum and palaces is to wander. The city is a mixture of history and culture, time stops you and invites you to take things slowly. I did not know that Joaquín Sabina is from this city, I found out when I saw Melancholy Street while we were walking.

Y cuando cae la noche, la ciudad cambia, las calles se quedan vacías y en cada esquina te encuentras un nuevo palacio o una iglesia. La verdad es que Úbeda es precioso.
- And when the night falls, the city changes and streets are all empty. In any corner you can find a new palace or a church. The truth is that Úbeda is gorgeous.

Hola María Luisa, cuánto tiempo sin pasar por tu cocina, espero que os encontréis bien. Estoy viendo tu reportaje y no te imagina la envidia que me das, he tenido varios intentos de visitar esta zona, pero nunca con éxito, siempre surge algo. Me alegra saber que tú la has podido disfrutar y recrearte en esos paisajes tan bonitos
