ALGUNAS PLAYAS EN CERDEÑA {SOME BEACHES IN SARDINIA}
I was driving back home from my mom´s this morning, and thinking that I had two posts left in my folders, obviously about our trip to Sardinia. It´s really cold these days, it was about time, and I´m really happy about it, but at the same time I must confess I feel some nostalgia when I think about those wonderful days we spent in this gorgeous island, where we had the chance to enjoy its beaches, long stretches of soft white sand, rugged coves, spectacular dunes, sparkling pebbles and grains or rice: the variety of beaches in Sardinia is so diverse and all so beautiful that you are not likely to be dissapointed. My I. isn´t fond of beaches, but believe me, he has enjoyed each of the ones we were lucky to visit. The clear blue sea that laps the shores of the island is an invitation to dive and swim, to savor this precious good that Sardinia offers so generously.
- The first beach we stepped into was Putzu Idu, well stepped into, I wouldn´t say so, because our luggage was lost at some point between Bilbao and Olbia and we didn´t get them back until three days later. I couldn´t find a shop to buy a swimming suit, I already wrote in another post that our zone in Sardinia was quite rural, obviously I wasn´t able to jump into the sea for three long days, but I had the chance to walk around, take thousand of pictures and observe people, which is something I like to do also. That day in Putzu, we ate some gorgeous calamari. The sand there is soft and fine, shallow water and long waves make it one of the favourite destinations for surfers. There are interestiing excursions departing from there to Mal di Ventre Island but we didn´t go, instead, we had the chance to go back to the beach some days later and obviously in the right conditions.
- S´Archittu was the second beach we visited. The beach takes its name from the rock that characterizes, which is one of the largest natural bridges in Sardinia. Fine white sand and blue-green sea, S´Archittu is also known for its beautiful seafront, we had the chance to see that everybody is inside their homes during the day and comes out at night and walk along the seafront, enjoying the warm summer evenings.
- We went after from S´Archittu to Bosa Marina, where we had a drink before lunch.
- Bosa is a place nobody can´t miss. Typical place where fishermen leave to capture fresh fish everyday. The village is gorgeous.
- Bosa´s beach was also gorgeous, but I´ll write about it later.
- The truth is that we loved this area.
- Two beaches were chosen for the next destination to rest. First we went to Is Arutas and then to Mari Ermi, where you can have a snack and something to drink. Is Arutas beach stretches for several kilometers, it has a clear sea which colours are between green and blue. It is known as the beach of the grains or rice being composed of small grains of quartz, which shades range from pink, to green, to pure white. Is Arutas, as well as the nearby beach Mary Ermi, differ from the other coasts of Sardinia, because composed of porphyritic granite instead of the common calcareous rock. This corner of Sardinia is unique and wild. It provides the basic services but it is a destination far from the mass tourism. All these aspects make this beach even more fascinating.
- Mari Ermi Beach, very similar to Is Arutas, is also characterized by quartz crystals, but has a greater range of colours. Known for its shallow sea of blue-green colour and its vast stretch of sand, it is very popular with windsurfers.
- The other beach we visited, Cala Luna, and which I have already written in a previous post, was the one we went after driving to Cala Gonone. Cala Luna looks like a long stretch of fiine white sand, reachable through a coastal path or more easily by sea.
- Last beach where we swam while in Sardinia was the one in Bosa Marina. Just outside the town, it´s an ideal place to watch the sun set in the evening as the sun sets into the sea and the sky changes its colour to hues of pink and orange. Further along the coast, you will come across a number of beautiful beaches, the beauty of each beach in unique and breathtaking in its own way. Bosa is the perfect Mediterranean escapade.
La arena parece polvos de talco aquí.
- Sand looks as if it was talcum powder in here.
- It´s been wonderful to enjoy such beautiful beaches. Somebody asked me recently, how could I remember all the things we´ve done and all the places we´ve visited, well, very simple, I keep a diary, I write everyday, so it´s quite easy to remember the holidays and enjoy them again, just like I did while writing this post.
