CUADERNO DE VIAJE CERDEÑA 3 {TRAVEL NOTEBOOK SARDINIA 3}
Agosto 2017
Recorrido 4
Route 4
- Another route to add to these notebooks and believe me, it was awesome. We left Is Benas early in the morning and in Cabras we took the motorway towards Nuoro where we left to take a regional road to Cala Gonone and Golf Orosei area which we found beautiful. We were travelling East this time with the idea of spending the day swimming and resting in the creeks around. Driving towards the place gave us the chance to enjoy the first gorgeous landscapes when we left the motorway in Nuoro.
- Finally we arrived to Cala Gonone after driving along winding and curvy roads, that reminded me of those driven in Mallorca in La Calobra, well that one had a couple of more curves. Cala Ganone is a very beautiful village, a little downhill though. We didn´t know where to park, in the centre you can park just for 15 minutes so we were a bit surprised. In the end, we arrived to the dock and a police person told us where to park which was cool, not only because we were really close to the docks and the beach but also we had cabins to change our clothes and even to get a shower on our way back to the car. Parking fee cost 5 euros from 11.30 a.m. to 6 p.m..
- Cala Gonone in the East Sardinia is no doubt an awesome place. With those still untouched wild beaches and dramatic view of the limestone cliffs and caves meeting turquoise blue water creates a scenery of uninhabited island. It is a little paradise on the earth!! well if tourists wouldn´t be around with or without boats. How can you access to these creeks?, well obviously by boat because by car it´s impossible. Best option is to rent a boat if you can drive it or the shuttle boat which wasn´t too crowded and takes you to all the hidden beaches. We took that shuttle boat towards Cala Luna which was our option for the whole day. The trip in the shuttle cost €20, if you want to go with your own zodiac {you don´t need a special license} it costs €180 and double if a person drives it for you. Obviously the shuttle was the best option for us, they leave every hour and come back every hour too. There is a small bar in Cala Luna, where you can buy drinks and sandwiches. This is what we did.
- And what do you think you´re going to see there?, well paradise. Rugged, virgin hillsides and startling rock formations plunge into a placid, clear sea. Time moves slowly, it´s quiet, sometimes you only hear wind, gulls and water lapping against rocks. Be careful, the sun scorches you need to take an umbrella with you, no possibility of shadows here. A beauty really. But also a turistic area, and by the time we had to leave, the beach was full.
- Beaches are a pleasure here. In my opinion, water was too hot, I´d rather prefer to jump into cold waters, specially if the weather is hot, I feel much better after a cold bath. When we were leaving, the fog appeared over Cala Luna and the beach was covered with some low clouds.
- We went back to the village. We had a shower for €2.-, we had something to drink and as it was almost 6 o´clock, we took the car and in 2 hours we were back in our hotel. We swam in the swimming pool and we really felt great after that. Another fine day.
