PORQUE SOMOS MADRES {BECAUSE WE ARE MOTHERS}

"We, the ones who have children studying somewhere else and who fortunately come back home for the weekend, try to please them and want them to be relaxed and comfy at home, to enjoy our meals and be happy everytime they come over. That´s why I always ask mine (my boy) on Thursdays what he´d like to eat during the weekend at home."

That´s how I started my post, one day last October. Yesterday, my baby boy, okay okay, he was my baby boy at that time (1991) as shown in the picture above, who still sat at his baby chair and ate really well. Hold on a sec, I think I have to update this picture.

Okay, much better, I think I can simply call him my "son". Or just my "vacum cleaner boy". He´s able to eat anything.

Yesterday, my son, asked me please to cook two tuna pies to eat them with his friends. I was overwhelmed with excitement, besides if he tells you that he really misses my cooking, the house and us (I think that´s the proper order and I don´t care because I think we, my I. and I go inside the lot). C. is very charming.

So, I chopped, 1 onion, 1 clove of garlic, 2 green peppers, and  3 piquillo peppers. Seasoned all with salt. Add a can of tomato sauce, and 2 tins of tuna fish in olive oil. I kept on cooking it for 5 more minutes and set aside. I hardboiled an egg too.

I´m sorry I don´t have the pictures of the recipe. I didn´t think I was going to post it.

I used to make the pie crust before, but now I buy this brand. I think it´s the best one we have. Okay, I´m not advertising anything, they don´t even know I exist. Either you use the puff pastry, the shortcrust or this one for pies.

So I opened the pie crusts (I used two) , put them  on a baking tray (used a silpan so the pastry won´t stick to the tray) and stuff them with the veggies, the tomato and the tuna fish that were slowly cooked previously. When stuffed, I added some chopped boiled egg on top of the stuffing and then I closed(folded) the pies. I used half an egg for each one.

Precalenté el horno a 200º durante 10 minutos.

I preheated the oven to 200º for 10 minutes.

I brushed the pastries with beaten egg and a bit of milk, so they looked as shinny as they are in the picture. I made a steam hole in the centre. I also flute the edges by using my thumb to make a decoration. I put them in the oven and cooked them during 20 minutes and they were ready to be eaten!.

BUT!!!
C. and his friends fell asleep in the house of one of them, and never came to pick them up.
His dad would give his eye teeth to eat one of those, but I didn´t let him, they belonged to my son, he took them today and they will eat them to night. I´ll make one just for himself during the week.
Should I kill him (in a familiar way of course, jeje)  for kept me waiting with the pies on the table?.

We do these sort of things because we are mothers and we will keep on doing them. Well I suppose so.

Here in the picture I took this morning, the tuna pies the following morning, still waiting to be picked up and telling us "eat me eat me"!.
